Hunza Tour Transport

A 4×4 and an experienced Karakoram Highway driver for the full Lahore-to-Hunza journey, planned across multiple days.

See our Lahore to Hunza route page for distance, drive time and recommended vehicle — this page focuses specifically on the guided tour side: itinerary pacing, recommended overnight stops, and the sights along the way (Attabad Lake, Karimabad, the Rakaposhi viewpoint).

Itinerary pacing

Hunza is a long haul, so the journey is planned across two days each way with an overnight near Besham or Chilas rather than a single exhausting push. Once in Hunza, three to four days lets you see the valley properly without backtracking. See the Lahore to Hunza route page for distance and drive time.

The sights along the way

The highlights build as you climb the Karakoram Highway: Attabad Lake’s turquoise water, the Passu Cones, Karimabad with the Baltit and Altit Forts, the Eagle’s Nest viewpoint at sunrise, and — for those who want it — the day trip up to Khunjerab Pass on the China border.

The vehicle and driver

The route is done in a comfortable SUV or a group van with a driver experienced on the KKH’s mountain sections. For families and groups, a Toyota Hiace or Grand Cabin keeps everyone together; larger tour groups take a Coaster. A dedicated group package is covered on our Hunza tour packages page.

What’s included

The vehicle, a professional driver, and comprehensive insurance that applies on northern routes. Fuel and tolls are disclosed upfront, and on multi-day trips the driver’s accommodation and meals are itemised separately — never hidden in the rate.

Best season

April to October. Early April brings the cherry blossom, summers are green and mild, and October turns the poplars gold. Winter travel is possible but roads and passes can close, so it’s planned case by case.
